The story
The Pinnacle is an outstanding two hundred and thirty metre feature of the area and was formed millions of years ago when Australia's continental plate drifted north over a hot spot in the Earth's crust.
Molten rock forced a passage up through the earth and solidified.
Over time the softer surrounding material has eroded away leaving the harder rock core that we see today.
Now it towers majestically over the countryside and fortunately we are able to enjoy the exciting and interesting features that it offers.
It is always memorable when climbers discover the way to the top and emerge from the vegetation onto the bare rock summit for the full circle panoramic view of the coastal plains and Cape Hillsborough National Park.
Open canopy bushlands - eucalypts, grass trees, wattles and bird life
Breathtaking full circle panorama of the coastal plains overlooking Cape Hillsborough National Park from the bare rock summit (Fantastic photo opportunity!!)
