After visiting the reef, waiting for the rain to stop or the wind to drop,
the Discover Bowen Tour is a great way to fill in a day.

Take the Discover Bowen Tour with us whilst in the Whitsundays... you will wonder at the difference... so close and yet such a contrast to Airlie Beach.

Bowen's European history dates back to the mid 1850's when early explorers thought that Edgecumbe Bay's natural attributes as a harbour would be the foundation of a major port city... hence the layout of the wide streets and it's substantial government buildings of the era.

Now horticultural crops, beef and seafood is transported by road and rail, even the Bowen Basin's 15 million ton coal exports are shipped via Abbot Pt, north of Bowen.

With the requirement of a major port no longer being necessary, the town has largely remained undeveloped and in the main unspoilt, which coupled with the climate, beautiful coastal scenery, beaches, fishing and laid back atmosphere makes Bowen a favourite destination for tourism, "sea changers" and retirees.

Your tour guide provides, such interesting and informative commentary along the way so you can learn about the many items encountered as you travel from the wet tropics of Airlie Beach to Bowen's drier granite landscape... "where the outback meets the sea!"

With our air conditioned coach being fitted with tinted solar reflecting windows, this trip can be taken any time of year. Even in summer you can relax and stay cool, as we transfer mostly between air conditioned venues, and you will appreciate the Coral Sea breeze as you enjoy morning tea beneath the shade at one of Bowen's beautiful beaches, while enjoying the company of fellow travellers of all ages and cultures from around the world, and perhaps meet a friend for life!
